Arrival in Sri Lanka. You will be welcomed by your host and local guide to this magical island. Transferred directly to your hotel in Colombo. Evening you will be provided with a chance to relive yourself from jet lag and take time to prepare for the journey ahead.

After breakfast at the hotel proceeds to Nuwara Eliya and en-route visit a Tea Factory.
Tea Factory Visit: Observe the process of manufacturing tea. You will also learn about how tea is graded and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.

Evening, visit Kandy Perahera on reserved seating
Kandy Perahera on Reserved Seating: The Kandy Perahera is one of the most magnificent festivals in Sri Lanka. During this religious ceremony, devotees pray for good rains to cultivate their crops. A replica of the casket carrying the sacred Tooth of the Buddha is also taken from the temple of the Tooth and paraded through the streets. This colourful procession of dancers, drummers, caparisoned elephants and Kandy chieftains in medical court dress should not be missed.

Peradeniya Botanical Gardens: It was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the British. It covers approximately 147 acres and is a stroller’s paradise with extensive well-kept lawns, pavilions, an octagon conservatory, fernery, a giant Javan fig tree and numerous flower beds. The best attraction is the orchid House where you can discover more than 1000 plants.

Dambulla Cave Temple: Also known as the “Golden Temple” it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991. This ancient complex was initially established in 3rd Century BC and is truly a wonder as it is the largest and best-preserved cave temples in Sri Lanka. The cave temples are home to numerous religious and cultural paintings and sculptures.

Sri Lanka, a country with a rich history that goes back for over 3000 years tells us of great sports that were enjoyed by the kings who ruled this wonderful land. Unarmed combat among champions had been the pinnacle of all events. In the past ages, where the law of “survival of the fittest” prevailed, this tiny nation had to hold its own, mostly against the mighty India. They were highly supported by the kings.
Minneriya National Park:
The elephants are a highlight of the Park. Approximately 160 species of birds, 9 amphibians, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species and more than 78 butterfly species can also be found here. There are also rare bamboo trees in this park which is unique to Minneriya National Park.

Dambulla – Habarana – Sigiriya – Dambulla (3.5 Hours)
After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Sigiriya and climbs Sigiriya Rock Fortress and have thereafter to Hiriwaduna, to experience village life with an authentic Sri Lankan meal.
Sigiriya Rock Fortress: One of Sri Lanka’s major attractions, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress was built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD) for the purpose of protecting him from his rivals. An UNSECO World Heritage listed site, also known as the “Fortress in the Sky”. Highlights of the climb include water gardens, artistic frescoes, mirror wall, the lion gate and the magnificent views from the rock summit.
Hiriwaduna Village Tour with lunch:
Trekking through the Hiriwaduna is an adventure that gets every nature lover excited! Ride a Bullock cart which is Sri Lanka’s oldest form of transportation on an unpaved trail. Then set off on a nature walk through a scrub jungle. He’ll take you to inspect the Chena Cultivation (Slash and burn agriculture). Immerse yourself in an archetypal Sri Lankan village, spend time with a farmer harvesting crops, or watch the children play or enjoy the sight of the village folk as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing or washing clothes at the lake. Wind down to a scrumptious home cooked meal in the heart of the village.

Dambulla – Trincomalee (2.5 Hours) (B/X/X)
After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Trincomalee and once arrived commence a city tour in Trincomalee
Tour of Trinco: Trincomalee is connected by Rail and Road. It has sunny weather throughout the year with white sandy beaches, calm, placid and warm waters ideal for underwater activities and for Whale watching. Trincomalee was a Buddhist Center known as “Gokanna” from very early times and later a Hindu Kovil was constructed at the site.
Natural Harbour - Trincomalee Harbour is one of the largest and safest Natural Harbours in the World.
Trinco Fort - In 1624 the Portuguese completed the construction of a Fort here after destroying the Hindu Temple at Swami Rock in the Fort. The Fort, which had only 3 Bastions was taken by the Dutch in 1639, but abandoned, re-fortified in 1675 and named it Fort Fedrick.
Nilaveli - 10 miles away is the finest beach in Trincomalee starting at Uppuveli 5 miles away extending all the way to Nilaveli.
Hot Springs - There are 7 Hot Spring at Kanniyai just 5 miles away on the Anuradhapura road.
Thiriyai Vata-da-ge - Thiriyai Vata-da-ge is 30 miles to the North of Trincomalee and is one of the best monuments in Sri Lanka.
Trinco War Cemetery - Trincomalee British War Cemetery is a British military cemetery in Trincomalee for soldiers of the British Empire who were killed or died during World War II.

The island is named after the endemic inhabitant – the blue rock Pigeon that call this island their home. The boat ride to pigeon island takes approximately 10 mins and is an ideal location for snorkeling amongst the coral reef and marine life. The Island was also once used by the British army for shooting practice.

Anuradhapura Ancient Kingdom:
Anuradhapura was the first ancient kingdom and Capital of Sri Lanka. As you explore the ancient ruins of this UNSECO World Heritage listed site, be sure to visit the city’s greatest treasures. These include the magnificent 13 metre high statue of Lord Buddha carved out of solid granite, the most renowned relic of the Bodhi Tree (grown from a branch transported from India) under which Buddha was believed to have attained enlightenment. In addition to above, there are many other important shrines and monuments that give Anuradhapura its significant status as the first kingdom.

Tour of Negombo: Negombo is well known classic fishing town that is located 37km North of Colombo. Its wide sandy beaches, lush tall coconut palm trees and gourmet seafood will send any visitor into instant tropical paradise! During your tour of Negombo highlights include The Old Dutch Fort, the Dutch Cemetery with a large Banyan tree and the many churches built by the Portuguese and Dutch. If time permits, be sure to visit the fish market where you won’t be stuck for choice with the freshest seafood. It is also a great photo opportunity for visitors to see in abundance the most popular outrigger canoes also known as “oruwa” that are dug out from a large log, floating along the Negombo lagoon.
