Maldives – a beach paradies
Maldives is a perfect place for a quiet getaway. It comprises of a large amount of islands with one thing in common, the white sand beaches that advocate peace. All these beaches have resorts that are ready to encompass you with their hospitality and bespoke stay. Maldives is not a place where you would find a heavy influx of people as there are a lot of choices. Some resorts are situated on private atolls and offer private beach areas and water activities like scuba diving. There are extensive eating options in the Maldives, a nice meal at night and a walk on the beach puts a perfect end to the day at Maldives. Bringing a bottle of wine would be an intensely personal decision but not a bad idea.
The two main ingredients of traditional Maldivian cuisine are coconut and fish. This does not come as a surprise because Maldives is a coastal paradise.
Maldivians consume all parts of the coconut! Absolutely nothing goes to waste. Coconuts are consumed in various forms right from grated and pieces to a liquid form like oil or milk which is made by soaking the grated coconut in water and then squeezing it to get coconut milk. Coconut milk can be used as a base for many food dishes and also mixed with various other beverages to make different drinks.
There is a huge variety of fish on offer in the Maldives with tuna being the king. There are four different types of tuna and various other choices of fish to choose from. The people here consume tuna in various forms. Some common ways are smoked, grilled, dry processed, fried or in a paste form famously called Rihaakuru.
