Munneswaram
Legend : One of the most revered Hindu temples in Sri Lanka, the Munneswaram temple is dedicated to God Shiva. It is said that the Munneswaram temple was built in the where King Rama prayed to Lord Shiva for guidance and protection after his war with the King Ravana which slayed the Lankan King. It is said Lord Shiva blessed him and advised the King install four Lingams at four locations for his protection against the ‘Brahmahathi Dosham’ a curse invoked upon the killing of a Brahmin.
