Manavari Temple
Legend : After defeating King Ravana in battle, Lord Rama prayed to God Shiva for guidance and protection from ‘Brahmahathi Dosham’ a curse invoked upon the killing of a Brahmin (King Ravana was a Brahmin). It is said God Shiva blessed Lord Rama and advised him to install four Lingams and worship at these sites as protection against the curse. The Manavari Temple is built at the site where the first Lingam was installed by Lord Rama. Called Ramalinga Shivan, this is the only other temple in the world named after Lord Rama, the other being at Rameshwaram in India.
